Neighborhood happenings

I am beginning to think that our neighborhood is cursed - especially when it comes to fires. This is the 3rd fire in the last 1 1/2 - 2 years. It is so sad, and makes me think that I need to get my house checked out (one fire was caused by the electrical system in the house.) and especially do an FHE and make a fire escape plan for my family. Everyone be sure to put new batteries in your smoke detectors - as you will read, that is what saved this family. I hope they will be well and will keep them in my prayers. This little article came from azcentral.com.

"About 20 seconds later, a call came in on a blaze in a two-story home in the 1500 block of South Slater Circle, near Higley Road and U.S. 60.
Dunn said the father at the home heard a smoke detector go off and his young son came downstairs and told him there was a fire in a bedroom.
The man, his wife and two sons escaped unharmed, and damage was limited to the bedroom and attic, Dunn said.
About 25 firefighters from Mesa, Gilbert and Apache Junction battled the blaze, which took 13 minutes to contain.
There was no cause determined in either blaze, Dunn said."

A FHE on fire prevention, and what to do in case of a fire is a great idea!! (You can also pass off one of the requirements in Caleb's Wolf book if you do this!!) We did one a few months ago, only to find out that that VERY night, a house in our neighborhood burned to the ground. It was so sad. So, I guess it's a good thing to be prepared!!
