Thursday May 7, 2010 - the fateful day! A few months ago my foot started to hurt all the time. Jared and I had started running and it was not good for my foot. I had to stop running and really stop most of my working out. So, I decided it was time to take care of the problem. I decided to have my bunion fixed and my second toe shortened. The surgery went well. This first picture is just after my surgery. I was feeling pretty good... until everything wore off. I ended up getting really sick to my stomach the next day for 2 solid days. It was terrible and I couldn't take the pain meds. Jared ended up calling the doctor and got me some meds.

The first week after surgery was really hard and painful. It wasn't so much from the cuts or anything, it was from my foot being really swollen and every time I would put it on the floor, all the blood would rush to my foot and it would throb like nothing else I had ever felt. But, come day 8 - it almost all went away and has been fine since then.

It no longer looks like this. It is so much better. Not quite as swollen, except for the actual joint. I have almost no movement (5 weeks later) in my big toe. I will have to do some therapy with some kind of machine to try and get back some range of motion in that joint. Today, I found out that I no longer have to wear that big ole boot. I am so happy about that. It was starting to get so hot and annoying. I still have to wear a surgical shoe, but it is so much better than the boot. I am so excited to have a straight toe and a second toe that doesn't curve down at the tip. I will be good to go in about 3-4 months!! :)
