Thursday Nov 11

Today I am thankful I live in a free country. Today is also Veteran's day. We had a great time at the parade in downtown Mesa and then had a picnic at a park. I normally don't get very emotional about the military. I don't know many people that have served in the military and I don't know anyone close to me that has died serving my country. But, for some reason today as we sat and watched the parade and watched different people from different branches of the military walk by, I was moved tears. Especially, watching the widows of fallen heroes, and the wives of military men and as my kids asked me different questions, I was teary as I answered them. Especially, as some JROTC members carried flags with names and pictures of fallen men and women that faithfully defended this country. It was moving to see.

Jared and I watched some things on the military channel about training for various branches of the military and I often sit there laughing at what these people are put thru and wonder why you would do that to yourself. But, that is because I could NEVER be that strong. Also, I could never be strong enough to be a military wife. That is strength and courage all on its own.

So, today I say thank you to all who feel the need to go out and put your life on the line to keep us free. I don't quite understand it, but I am certainly grateful for it.
