Triathlon

Sadly, I don't have any pictures to go with this. I think I have one on my phone, but don't know how to get it to my computer. There is one from facebook that was uploaded, but again I am not that smart and don't know how to steal it to put on here.

Anyway, our Stake decided to put on a triathlon this year. The theme for the whole year has been "Health is a Habit" and the triathlon was the crowning event. I am the activity chairman in our ward and so I was put on the committee to help plan. Luckily, I was just in charge of a tiny part (the awards), but was able to be involved with all the other planning. It was a HUGE event to plan and those that were really in charge did a WONDERFUL job.

The triathlon was Saturday October 23. It included a 1/4 mile swim, 8 mile bike ride (which had to be shortened to 4 since we had double the amount of people participate and a 2 mile run. I was planning on doing the swim and bike portion, Jared was going to bike and run and Caleb was going to bike. Because we found out that we had so many more people than we expected, I decided to not do any of it and just be there to help with making sure everything went smoothly. They certainly didn't need me for that, so I am a little bummed that I didn't participate. But, oh well. When Caleb found out that he had to be there at 5:30 in the morning, he decided he didn't want to do it. So, Jared represented our family by doing the whole thing himself - with little to no training. He did a great job and did the whole thing in under an hour. I am very proud of him! A week before his 40th birthday no less! :)

I am actually hoping that they do it again next year so that I can really participate. We expected about 250 people and ended up with 460 participants. It was a great event and fun to help plan.
