Happy New Years!!

So, another year has come and gone and here we are at the beginning of a new one. They do seem to go by faster and faster as I get older. Life is just always busy and the kids are growing up. I have been thinking of the same thing everyone does at this time of the year - resolutions/goals. I have been thinking that it only makes sense to want to make goals to improve our lives at this time of year. We have just spent that last 2 months thanking Heavenly Father for all of our blessings and then celebrating the birth of our Savior. We have been focused on Christ more and that makes us want to renew our commitment to Him and to ourselves and our family.

I don't know what my goals will be this year. I know that I am always having to renew my commitments. I like to make some short term goals - that aren't meant to last all year. I have been brainstorming and so far this is what I have come up with:

1) FHE every Monday night
2) Study one Christlike attribute each month
3) Work out 3 times a week
4) Study Sunday School lesson each week - even if I am not teaching
5) Read with Gavin 3 nights a week
6) Go on a bike ride (alone or with family) twice a week
7) Make blog into books
8) I have a couple financial goals that I want to accomplish
9) Finish reading the Book of Mormon with the kids
10) Implement "The Parenting Breakthrough" with my kids

I know there are more things I need and want to work on. Some of these things are not going to take all year. I can accomplish them fairly quickly then move onto other ones. But, I have not figured out which order to do them in yet. And I have not decided everything yet. That seems like a lot of things to work on all at once, so we will see how it goes.

We sat down with the kids last night for FHE and came up with a Family Motto of sorts. Just things that we think are important to us as a family. Everyone got to pick one thing to add and this is what we came up with:

1) Do good work
2) Pay attention
3) Show respect
4) Be clean
5) Be responsible

As a family we will work on these throughout the year. I hope we can keep on track! Wish us luck!
