So, this last year I decided to go to work at my kids' elementary school. It was a fun experience and I learned many things. I could say that this is why I haven't blogged for a REALLY long time... Anyway, we will just ignore that fact and pretend I have blogged consistently. I started the school year out as the 1st grade aide. It was really fun to be able to be in Gavin's classroom sometimes and see him and how he is at school. However, it was too many hours and I was really struggling (I will have to post about all the health issues over the last year). So, I was really sad to go to them and tell them I could no longer do the job. They were super nice and found a different job for me to do at school that only required me to work 10 hours a week (instead of 28). I was able to work for the special ed department and work one on one with a 3rd grade boy with special needs. It was challenging at times, but really rewarding. He left the school to go to a new school that fit his needs much better - so I found myself out of a job at Christmas break. School started again and I had 3 days off and got a phone call saying they had a new special needs boy for me to work with! So I started work again and was BLESSED to work in Mrs. Klassen's 3rd grade class. I knew that she is an amazing teacher because Caleb had her for 3rd grade. I had an absolute blast working in her classroom and learning from her. She is so wonderful with the kids and she cares so much about each one of them. I am truly blessed to be able to have worked with her for a few months. I will never forget the experience and all I learned. I loved those kids in that class and already miss them.
