Jared and I (when I say "and I", I really mean just Jared) put in a garden in part of our backyard a few months ago. We had someone build us a block wall and then we decided to try our hand at growing a garden. Caleb and his friend Maggie helped Jared plant everything (I supervised). Jared has put a lot of work and care into this garden and it has turned out pretty good - especially for our first time. We have been able to eat a few things. The romaine lettuce was quite good, the broccoli and cauliflower are not bad. We had no idea that broccoli started to blossom if not picked soon enough. Cauliflower turns purple on the stems. We are still waiting for tomatoes, but it should be soon. We have many that are growing, but it takes quite a long time for them to ripen. The watermelon vines are doing great, we hope that we actually get watermelons from them at some point. The birds keep eating our strawberries and the herbs are out of control. The sunflowers have finally bloomed and are taller than Jared even with him standing on the block wall. IT has been very fun to watch it all grow and see what we did wrong and what we did right! Jared can't wait for next year and is already panning it all out!
Beautiful sunflowers! They are out of control!

WOW!! I'm so jealous! We haven't even been able to plant our garden yet because of the cold weather here in lovely CO! So...I'll have to just enjoy yours from a distance! :o) It looks amazing! Enjoy all of that yummy food you're getting!
That is so cool! I want to start one but I'm afraid that my dog with no brain cells will dig it up. I need to figure out a way to keep her out but your wall idea seems like a good one!
