Monday, Sept. 1 was Samantha's Birthday. We didn't get to the gravesite on that day since we were driving back from Las Vegas, but we were able to go yesterday. Every year we each get a balloon to release to heaven for Samantha and I usually make brownies. We stand at her headstone and sing Happy Birthday and then let our balloons go.

This is something we do for the kids. They love the idea of the balloons going up to heaven to Samnatha. We think and talk of Samantha often in our home and hold on to the knowledge that we will get to be with her again someday. She is very much a part of our family and we are blessed to know that we will be together again. I can't believe that it has been 5 years already. It doesn't seem like it has been that long, yet it feels like it has been forever.

I love that you do this & keep Samantha a part of you lives! :)
What a wonderful tradition! I think it is such a great idea, and a great way for your kids to remember their sister.
