The Amazing Race

A couple of weekends again some friends of ours put together an Amazing Race for some couples to do. They worked so hard on it (Thanks to the Walkers, Fergusons and Davis' for you hard work) and it was so much fun - even if we didn't win!! Let's face it, we were not close to winning and never really thought we had a chance considering our competition!

  • We started at a park near our house and we had to find our car keys in one of 3 bowls full of wheat kernels. I luckily found it in the first bowl, then we got a clue. The first clue lead us to the basketball court where we had to either make 5 baskets or finish a Sukou puzzle. Jared and I have never played Sukou (I don't even think I know how to spell it) so we opted for the baskets. But, neither one of us are very good at basketball so it took us awhile to make 5 shots. Once we finally finished that we were off with our next clue....

  • We ended up at Brimhall Junior High on the football field. One person had to kick a field goal, then run one lap around the track then eat a fun dip. Needless to say, we would hat been there all night if I had to try and kick a field goal so Jared had to do this challenge. He made the field goal on the first try then ran the lap and downed the fun dip. Of course by then his back was in sad shape, but he pushed through it. Now, on to the next challenge....

  • We ended up at Chuck E. Cheese to earn 30,000 points on Skeet Ball. I had 3 chances and sucked at all three. But, in my defense they really do have CRAPPY skeet ball lanes. The ball would hit the end of the ramp and jump up and come back to me. It was stupid!! So, we ended up with a 5 min penalty until we could go to the next location....

  • We ended up at Border's books and had to either count the # of books in one section or find a book with the words Amazing and Race in it. We chose to find a book (hello - the dictionary!!) then we got the next clue....

  • We ended up at Krispy Kreme and had to find hats, get our LOVELY picture taken and do a word search to find out where we were headed next.... We ended up at Wendy's and had to buy 2 $1 menu items and down those as fast as we could to get the next clue. I got and jr. bacon cheeseburger and fries. I think I did pretty good at downing it quickly. The word find led us to the next location....

  • We ended up at Mesa High School. This one took us quite a bit of time, because we had to find the tennis courts. Seeing that Jared and I didn't go to high school here (or even close to here) we had no idea where the tennis courts were and they weren't lighted. But, needless to say, we finally found them and had to ride scooters around the tennis courts and the basketball courts. This one was fun, except for the fact that the front wheel of Jared's scooter found a hole in the cement and he went flying over the handle bars. He did perform a rather fabulous roll and jumped back up and on the scooter in no time at all. Then it was on to the next location....

  • Neilsen's Frozen Custard and the finish line. I think we came in 5th! It was really a fun date night and I am embarrassed to admit that we were both a little bit sore afterwards. (In our defense, we both work out - some more diligently than others - but we are NOT runners at all!! Neither one of us enjoy it)
Here is the whole gang. Thanks again to the Walkers, Fergusons and Davis' for planning and being our refs. We will definitely plan another one so you can race!!
